Intelligent Concentration, Precision Pre-Processing Yingtai Vacuum Centrifugal Concentrator

A centrifugal concentrator is a laboratory instrument that rapidly evaporates solvents to concentrate samples through the synergistic effects of centrifugal force, vacuum, and heating. Its core principle involves lowering the boiling point of solvents in a vacuum environment, combined with centrifugal force to prevent sample bumping, while gentle heating accelerates evaporation. It is suitable for concentrating heat-sensitive samples such as DNA/RNA, proteins, and pharmaceuticals.

Working Principle of Centrifugal Concentrators

Centrifugal concentration ensures efficient solvent evaporation and sample concentration while protecting sample integrity. This technology can concentrate multiple micro-samples (e.g., 96-well plates) within 3060 minutes while preserving the activity of heat-sensitive substances (e.g., proteins, DNA).

1. Centrifugal Force Drives Solvent Separation

Samples in the centrifugation chamber rotate at high speeds (up to thousands of RPM), generating centrifugal force (Relative Centrifugal Force, RCF), which evenly distributes the sample at the bottom or along the walls of the tube, forming a thin liquid layer. This increases the solvents evaporation surface area while centrifugal force prevents bumping and splashing, ensuring stable concentration.

2. Vacuum Environment Lowers Solvent Boiling Point

The device reduces chamber pressure via a vacuum pump (vacuum levels up to 0.110 mbar). Solvent boiling points decrease significantly under reduced pressurefor example, water boils at 100°C under standard atmospheric pressure but at ~50°C or lower at 10 mbar. This enables rapid solvent evaporation at low temperatures, ideal for heat-sensitive samples (e.g., proteins, nucleic acids, natural products).

3. Temperature Control Optimizes Evaporation Efficiency

Some centrifugal concentrators feature heating modules (e.g., heating plates or water baths) to accelerate evaporation (while balancing sample tolerance). For highly sensitive samples, cooling functions can maintain low temperatures (e.g., 425°C) to prevent denaturation or volatilization.

Advantages of Centrifugal Concentration Technology

Centrifugal concentration provides an efficient and reliable solution for laboratory sample pre-processing. Its key advantages include:

- Gentle & Efficient Concentration: Vacuum (50100 mbar) significantly lowers solvent boiling points, while precise temperature control (3060°C) ensures mild concentration, perfectly preserving the activity of heat-sensitive substances like proteins and nucleic acids.

- Prevents Bumping & Cross-Contamination: Centrifugal force ensures safe and reproducible experiments by eliminating sample splashing.

- Broad Compatibility: Handles various solvent systems (aqueous/organic) and sample volumes (50 μL50 mL), supporting high-throughput operations.

- Eco-Friendly & Safe: Closed-system design with solvent condensation recovery enhances safety and environmental compliance.

- Ideal for Diverse Fields: Widely used in molecular biology, drug development, environmental testing, and more, ensuring data accuracy while boosting efficiency.

High Speed & Efficiency

Centrifugal force-driven solid-liquid separation is significantly faster than gravity sedimentation, enabling short processing cycles suitable for large-scale production.

Low Energy Consumption

No heating required (unlike evaporation methods), reducing energy useideal for heat-sensitive materials (e.g., biologics, food) to avoid thermal degradation.

Wide Applicability

Handles high-viscosity and scaling-prone materials (e.g., sludge, fermentation broth), unlike traditional filtration, which clogs easily. Adapts to varying material properties (e.g., pH, temperature).

User-Friendly Operation

High automation with programmable parameters (speed, time, etc.), minimizing manual intervention. Compact design saves lab space.
