Yingtai: Safe Operating Procedures for Autoclave
1. Purpose
To ensure the safe use of autoclave, protect the lives and property of operators, and maintain the integrity of equipment and facilities, this procedure is established.
2. Scope
This procedure applies to operators and maintenance personnel of autoclave.
3. Safety Requirements
1.Operators must hold relevant certificates for steam sterilizers and understand the basic operation, safety knowledge, and maintenance methods.
2.Operators must wear standard protective equipment, including protective clothing, gloves, goggles, and masks.
3.Operators must strictly follow the operating procedures and must not alter the operation process or parameters arbitrarily.
4.During operation, all related machines and equipment, such as the steam drum machine, slag separator, and vacuum pump, must be turned off.
5.Personnel must monitor the operation on-site and conduct safety inspections during the sterilization process.
6.Overloading the steam sterilizer is prohibited; the maximum load should not exceed 80% of its capacity per cycle.
7.Avoid exposing the steam sterilizer to water sources to prevent equipment damage or explosion.
8.Conduct safety inspections before use. Any faulty equipment must be identified and repaired before operation.
4. Operating Procedures
1.Inspect the steam sterilizer to ensure it is intact, and prepare the necessary materials and equipment.
2.Load the items to be sterilized into the sterilizer, arranging them properly.
3.Address factors that may weaken sterilization, such as cutting, air exposure, and pre-vacuum treatments.
4.Seal the sterilizer door and set the operating parameters.
5.Turn on the sterilizer and begin heating. Once the device reaches the required operating temperature and pressure, maintain these conditions for the specified sterilization time.
6.At the end of the sterilization cycle, turn off the sterilizer and open the pressure release valve.
7.Wait until the internal pressure drops to a safe level before opening the sterilizer door and removing the items.
5. Maintenance and Care
1.Clean and disinfect the sterilizer after each use, maintaining standardized records.
2.Perform comprehensive maintenance and inspections weekly.
3.Replace easily worn parts, such as temperature sensors and pressure gauges, regularly.
6. Responsibilities and Policies
1.Operators must comply with the above requirements. Any accidents caused by non-compliance or improper operation will result in accountability for the responsible individuals.
2.Operators causing losses due to non-compliance with procedures will bear the corresponding responsibility.
3.This safe operating procedure becomes mandatory upon issuance. Revisions to the procedure must go through the appropriate approval process.
7. Appendices
1.Autoclave Operating Flowchart
2.Autoclave Maintenance Record Form
Autoclave are essential in industries such as healthcare and food. For operators, ensuring safety is both a responsibility and an obligation. The requirements and operating procedures outlined in this document must be followed to ensure the safety and longevity of the equipment and achieve safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
